Factory operating control
Use a Daily Commissioning Report to Preserve Cause and Responsibility
A daily report should reconstruct the safe state, exact configuration, people present, materials and utilities used, work completed, tests run, raw results, incidents, changes, blockers and approved next plan. It prevents critical events from surviving only in messages or memory.
01 · Buyer or factory inputs
Information the decision needs
- Day, shift, work area and safe status
- Equipment, software, recipe and drawing revision
- People, organization and responsibility
- Utility and test-material condition
- Approved commissioning plan and test method
- Open actions from previous reports
02 · Operating objective
What completion should achieve
Create a chronological, reviewable commissioning record that supports safe next work and later acceptance decisions.
03 · Required controls
Turn the objective into controlled work
- 01
Record the starting configuration before work begins
- 02
List personnel, authority and work scope
- 03
Capture measurements and results with their test conditions
- 04
Separate observation, deviation, change and confirmed conclusion
- 05
Assign every blocker and open action to an owner
- 06
Approve the next-day prerequisites and plan before close
04 · Factory interfaces
What connects to this decision
- Installation completion to commissioning release
- Supplier activity to buyer site responsibility
- Utility and material state to test validity
- Software or setting change to configuration control
- Daily result to stage-gate and acceptance record
05 · Evidence to collect
Records that make review possible
- Signed daily report with revision
- Photos, measurements and test attachments
- Configuration and change log
- Incident, deviation and open-action list
- Approved next-work prerequisites
06 · Common failure modes
Do not confuse a pattern with a confirmed cause
1Results are recorded without configuration or material context
2Chat messages become the only action record
3A setting change has no owner or reason
4Next-day work begins before blockers and safety conditions are reviewed
07 · Responsibility boundary
Name who confirms each part
| Role | Possible responsibility in this stage |
|---|---|
| Operations owner | Defines the operating condition, assigns the record and confirms that actions fit the production plan. |
| Quality owner | Defines product-status, sampling, release and escalation controls within the factory system. |
| Maintenance owner | Confirms safe technical work, equipment condition, evidence and restart requirements. |
| Supplier / Allot Tech | Reviews the documented interface or symptom and coordinates project-specific questions within the agreed scope. |
08 · Completion criteria
Evidence that the stage can advance
- The day can be reconstructed from records
- Tests link to conditions and raw evidence
- Changes and deviations are traceable
- Open items have owners
- The next plan has explicit prerequisites
Decision support
Questions operating teams ask
Is the daily report an acceptance certificate?
